Stone County exists in the state of Mississippi. Stone County had 18,333 people in 2020, determined by a local census. The current county seat is Wiggins.
It was formed in 1916.
It was named for John M. Stone, who served as Governor of Mississippi from 1876 to 1882 and again from 1890 to 1896.

The Court of Appeals has the power to oversee any lower court case in which one party appeals in Mississippi. The Court of Appeals oversees all contested decisions made at the 82 county superior and trial courts, including in Stone County.

NOTE - Stone County has a variety of rules that needs to be followed with regard to obtaining records. The office is only open between 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. To obtain records in Stone County, photo identification is needed. State IDs and driver's licenses will do just fine. All Stone County public record requests must be put in writing.
