Clay County can be seen in the state of Mississippi. Back in 2020, Clay County had a total population of 18,636. The county seat is West Point.

It was formed in 1871.

It was named in honor of American statesman Henry Clay, a member of the United States Senate from Kentucky and United States Secretary of State in the 19th century.

The federal government formerly designated Clay County as the West Point Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The Court of Appeals of Mississippi holds power to examine all contested cases across the state. The lower courts over which the Court of Appeals oversees contain the 82 superior or trial courts across the 82 counties, including Clay County.
