Crime Numbers
Mississippi’s crime rate in 2017 shows that 12 violent crimes were reported in Warren County. These reports are categorised into 5 aggravated assaults, 3 robberies, 2 rapes, and 2 murders. In addition, 275 property crimes comprising 1 arson, 28 auto thefts, 171 larcenies, and 76 burglaries were reported in the same year. In all, a total of 284 crimes were listed in 2017.
These numbers represent a reduction in reported crime rates over a 5 year period. In 2012, the county experienced 8 aggravated assaults (-38%), 2 robberies (-33%), 5 rapes (-60%), 29 motor vehicle thefts (-4%), and 173 larcenies (-1%). Murder and arson increased however from 2012’s report of 0 for both, and burglaries also increased by 1 reported incident.
Criminal Records
The public can request criminal history checks in all Mississippi counties from the Criminal Information Center of the State Department of Public Safety (CIC). State-licensed child care and healthcare facilities have exclusive access to criminal history check services by the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH).
Residents of Warren County who wish to obtain their criminal records are required to download, complete, and print out a Criminal History Record for Employment form. If a third party will be receiving criminal history check results, fill out the authorization section clearly stating the name of the individual. The Applicant Processing Division of the CIC handles fingerprint-based and name-based investigations. It takes about 30 days for criminal history check requests to be completed.
MSDH-licensed healthcare and childcare facilities may request criminal history checks for their employees at the Criminal History Record Check Division of the department using the fingerprint transmission system.
Prospective job applicants in these facilities can access their own criminal records by completing a LiveScan form. Bring along, with the completed form, a valid photo ID (or evidence of a paid employment with the hiring facility) and a $50 payment made payable to MSDH to the:

The onsite fingerprinting service is available between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The seat of Warren County is the city of Vicksburg. Here, the Records Division of the Police Department maintains warrants, auto crash reports, missing persons documentations, criminal reports, and other police records. An individual may wish to file an incident report belonging to any one of the categories named above with the police department, or request records.These records are accessible both to persons directly involved and other interested members of the public. The Sex Offender Registration Division of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety lists all persons convicted of sexual crimes within the state in a centralized system. The database can be accessed at the Mississippi Sex Offender Registry website. A search may also be conducted on the website using a specific name or zip code. The Sheriff, which is the county’s jailor, has oversight of the safety and welfare of inmates at the incarceration facility. The Warren Circuit Court is the trial court of the highest authority in the county. In addition to hearing cases of higher jurisdiction than the other courts, it hears appeal cases from other courts within the county. All courts in Warren County have records of the trials held within their jurisdictions. To obtain a court record, call or visit the office of the clerk of the court where the case was tried. The Mississippi State Department of Health also processes requests for marriage certificates only, at a fee of $17 for the first certified copy and $6 for each extra copy ordered at the same time. Acceptable forms of payment include personal check, cashier’s check, or money order made payable to Mississippi Vital Records. To obtain a marriage certificate copy, download and fill out the marriage record application form, which is also available in Spanish.
